Your accommodation is one of 16 fortress-inspired, wooden-clad suites. Each suite combines a bedroom with a king-size bed and a cosy lounge area with an armchair. The window banquette offers views across a stream and pine forests. A traditional wood-burning stove, a ‘bukhari’, is placed between the bedroom and bathroom for extra warmth. Your bathroom features a terrazzo-clad bathtub, twin vanities, and a strong rain shower.

Find your secluded retreat at Amankora Thimphu. Sits on a pine-forested hill in the upper Motithang neighbourhood, near Bhutanese royalty, and offers a relaxed, rural setting.

This lodge’s design resembles a traditional Bhutanese fortress, known as a ‘dzong’. Its thick, dry-stone walls and earth plaster create an imposing and authentic feel. Inside, you will find clean, contemporary wooden furnishings in muted shades. The central courtyard contains Buddhist prayer wheels, while an outdoor veranda and fire pit provide spaces for relaxation.

This Amankora Thimphu lodge has the most polished service of all. The professional staff here are all sensitive to your needs. Their elegant dining room serves both Thai and Western menus.

Dishes range from monkfish with bone marrow to Pad Thai. Your stay includes access to a large library, a shop, laundry service, and a spa with three treatment options and a steam room.
